FAQs

Why are we different than other medical clinics?
We focus on whole person wellness from a Christian perspective coming alongside and equipping you to take control of your health. We are a Private Membership Association (PMA). In order to access our services you will need to become a member of our group. This means you enter a private agreement with The Well. Essentially, signing a contract protects our relationship from outside influence and allows your provider to treat you as an individual.
What is a PMA?
A PMA stands for a Private Membership Association. A PMA operates in a manner as to keep private business and private activities a private contractual matter between the association and the members. Keep in mind that law says “no state can pass any law that impairs the obligation of contract.” The association is founded upon the principle that we have an unalienable right to associate. Membership is restricted and only private rules apply inside. A Private Membership Association is men and women collectively asserting and standing upon their secured perfect rights to assemble and associate; their reserved authority; their pre-existing claim to absolute authority and control over the health of their own body, mind and spirit and rights (hereinafter collectively referred to simply as “rights”). A PMA functions by the members acting as people, in their real private character and capacity.

Public Law, Regulations and internal Rules of administrative agencies that regulate the public do not generally reach a PMA because they would impair, impede, obstruct or defeat the PMA members’ ability to discuss, hear, read or speak about, print, obtain and use things which may be prohibited to be disclosed to or used by the public, unless the private membership association commits a nefarious act, which means some form of human rights violation or evil act against another human or in the wording of the courts “creates a clear and present danger of a substantial evil”. Anything less is protected and stays within the private domain. A PMA generally falls outside the jurisdiction of Public Law, Regulations and internal Rules of administrative agencies. You can legally practice your profession in a properly formed First, Fourth, Fifth, Ninth, Tenth and Fourteenth Amendment Private Membership Association. Furthermore, the members of a private association have the right to contract with each other and conduct business activities, provided that those activities are not “of such a nature as to create a clear and present danger that they will bring about the substantive evils.” A PMA is not a public entity, neither a public corporation, business, partnership, company, estate, joint stock company, trust, estate, public association, nor any form of for-profit entity of any kind.

What do I need to do start accessing your services?
Call to make an appointment to be seen by one of our providers. Fill out the online intake form that will be emailed to you once you make an appointment or come in 20 minutes early to fill out your intake at the office. During the intake, you will need to agree and sign the The Well Agreement form. We are a fee-for-service cash based model.
Do you take insurance?
We do not contract with insurance companies. This means your visits here are not covered by your insurance company and you will have to pay out of pocket.

We are a fee-for-service clinic so you pay for services as you go. Imaging, blood work and prescriptions are still covered by your insurance as these services are provided outside of our clinic. With private insurance (Blue Cross, Blue Shield, United, etc), we can provide a super bill for services. You can submit this to your insurance company and they may reimburse you depending on your plan.

We do not accept Medicare and our providers have opted out of the medicare network. This means that you will be asked to sign a private contract which clearly states that medicare will not reimburse The Well or the patient for services rendered and that neither the patient or the Well will file a claim.

We do not accept Medi-cal. There is no opt out form; patients may choose to pay cash for services.

Why don’t you take insurance?
When providers contract with insurance companies, the insurance company sets rules. In order to be reimbursed by the insurance company the provider must follow all the rules or the insurance company may deny payment. This is one of the main reasons why all patients are treated the same in our current medical system. Entering a private contract allows The Well’s provider to treat you as an individual and only recommend the medications or services that are in your best interest.
What is the difference between seeing an Integrative MD and a Primary Care NP?
Primary Care NP – Is the first step for most people. Our NP can review your current medical conditions and prescriptions, make recommendations, order testing such as bloodwork or imaging and provide you a plan of action to work toward your personal health goals.

Integrative MD – Is for those patients who may be working on a chronic condition, have been to multiple specialists and need someone to look at the big picture. The integrative visit is an in-depth review of symptoms, testing that has been done and an extensive history review. The MD will create a plan for next steps and may recommend additional testing, supplements or medications, and lifestyle changes.

What is the Equiscope?
The Equiscope is an intelligent electronic device that runs a very small electrical current through the body to find areas where tissue is damaged. When the machine detects an impedance to the flow of electricity, it sends additional electrical energy to the area. The extra energy allows the cells in that area to re-set and gives them a boost to start functioning normally again so that your own cells can heal themselves. The Equiscope uses micro-current electrotherapeutic technology with biofeedback. It can deliver pain relief, accelerated recovery, improved circulation, optimized performance, detoxification and more.
How many Equiscope treatments will it take?
Results can vary person to person. Your health status, how long you’ve had the problem and age all play a role in results. Younger patients with an acute or fairly recent injury will take less sessions than an older patient in poor health with a long standing issue. We recommend 3-6 session for an acute issue and 12 or more sessions for chronic issues. 3 sessions within a week period and 12 sessions within a 4 week period provide optimal results. Having the sessions close together builds healing upon healing.
Will the Equiscope actually fix my problem?
This depends on the problem. The body is always working to heal itself and the Equiscope helps to support the natural healing of the body. It also depends on the person and their lifestyle choices. For best results, we recommend you eat a clean diet with lots of fruits and veggies while avoiding sugar and processed foods. Increase water intake, get 7-9 hours of sleep at night, reduce stress and allow your body to heal.

“But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”
